Tour Overview

We have been exploring wadable flats in this far northern stretch of reef over the last couple of years and we are confident that this fishery will stand strong against some of the well know established destinations around the world today. The eastern Cape York peninsular is one of the most remote stretches of coastline with almost zero coastal inhabitancy north of Cooktown all the way to the tip of Australia. Walking the east coast flats really has the feel that no other flat does. We will be taking groups of six anglers to join us to walk these untouched flats in search for the ever-abundant species we have found such as Permit, Blue Bastards, Chinaman, GT’s and amongst these primary suspects there is a list of other targets we will have the opportunity to get a shot at. These trips are aimed at the angler who primarily wants to wade as there will be limited boat/skiff fishing available. We will have one local experienced fly guide per pair of anglers and we will have the opportunity to fish multiple flats during your trip to ensure the best opportunity for you to stick that beast you have been looking for. We will have two 23ft centre consoles available to transport us to the flats where we will be fishing for the day. 

 

At the end of the day we will return to our luxury mothership Savannah, an 80ft luxury Expedition vessel with three very comfortable staterooms. The views in the afternoon from the sundeck are priceless after a day’s fishing with a cold beverage and a great social lounge in the main salon. You will be greeted with canapés on return from your days fishing followed by a sit down two course meal to end the day.

  • Rods, Reels, Tackle and lures. If you don’t have your own gear we have premium Rods and Reels for you to hire. We also have a large range of tackle and lures onboard for you to purchase if you’d like.

Another amazing trip with East Coast Angling, these guys really go out of their way to make sure you are happy on and off the water. We did the Port Douglas Offshore charter and what a great location to visit and call home for a week of fishing. The accommodation and night life in Port Douglas is great with plenty of nice restaurants and bars to enjoy. The charter the guys at East Coast Angling run is one to be experienced, the boat Scutes, a 32 foot centre console is a beast and fishing from its platform all day is something every fisho should enjoy. Rod & Reel Hire Available

If you don’t have your own gear, don’t worry!! We have extremely high end gear available to our guests for hire, it is a one-off fee for the duration of the trip. We make sure it is maintained and kept up to the condition it needs to be to stop those giants. Our rods are ASWB Indian Pacific GT Tamer PE 8-10 rods, paired up with a Shimano 18000SW Saragosa and spooled with 100lb P8 braid by Platypus fishing lines. The light outfits are also ASWB PE 4-5 outfits paired with Shimano Saragosa 6000SW spooled with Platypus P8 50lb braid.
